Final Romanian PVP LAORVs delivered
The Romanian Ministry of Defense took delivery of the last batch of six PVP light armoured vehicles from Panhard General Defense between 18-21 May. The PVPs will be operated by the Romanian Army.
Romania purchased 16 PVPs from Panhard General Defense in 2012. The PVP is a 4x4, air-transportable vehicle available in law enforcement, pick-up, personnel carrier and communications/command versions. It is used by several countries, including Togo, Chile and France.
The PVP LAORV version specific to the Romanian Army has several new developments. It features STANAG level 2 ballistic protection, level 2A anti-blast protection and an operational temperature range of -32 to +50 degrees Celsius.
The vehicles are being outfitted by Romanian company CSR for carrying out perimeter control missions. Once the fitting out of the final vehicles is complete, they will be ready to enter into operations as part of an international projection force under the NATO or UN.
