Farnborough: Interest grows in APKWS

BAE Systems plans to expand its APKWS market into the US Army and US Navy rotary and fixed wing fleets as well as overseas to Hydra 70mm missile users, the company has claimed.

Speaking at the Farnborough International Airshow, David Harrold, the director of precision guidance solutions at BAE said that he was ‘confident’ of a sale to the US Army in 2015.

Although there has been no official confirmation, BAE Systems has self-funded air worthiness certification of the APKWS on the AH-64 D/E Apache attack helicopter, which was achieved in April with eight firings completed.
