Thales IFF equipment for Canadian OPVs
Lockheed Martin Canada has selected Thales to supply long range Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) interrogators and transponders for the six Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) under construction for the Royal Canadian Navy, Thales announced on 7 October.
The radar will give the vessels the ability to perform 360° surveillance to identify cooperative civilian and military aircraft.
The equipment to be delivered under the contract will be based on the company's BlueGate Long Range IFF interrogator products and new miniaturised transponder.
The system is fully compliant with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization/ US Department of Defense military standards and International Civil Aviation Organization’s civilian standards.
